Our Biggest Report yet: an in-depth look at the US Stockmarket featuring perspectives on price, fundamentals, valuations, styles, sectors, global, asset allocation + market curiosities...
+If there is demand I might host some webinars to go through some of the highlights in the pack. Otherwise I will post a video walkthrough later in the week, time permitting (also voice permitting, I think I've caught a cold, must have worked myself too hard on this! -_-)
Thanks Christos, indeed it took about a month to put together, but you might argue it took as much as 8 years if you include the charts and data I've tinkered on over the years since starting Topdown Charts ^_^
Wow what a jam packed piece! I liked the constant emphasis on how the market goes higher over time even though the ride is not smooth. Too many people are missing out on long term gains because they are scared of short term drawdowns.
On #3. Valuations: The visual is great and always makes so much sense. But think about the businesses going thru it- this is known as 'The Trough of Chaos'. Where the old life path falls, and has to create a new life path- of vision, goals, transition, culture, investment, and developement,- to hopefully get to launch . (Think Intel). They all have to do it, and best illustrated with the 'Sigmoid Curve'. Collectively, we (all) may be just coming out of it now in the macro.
Good idea, I was thinking the other day if you printed the pack off and stopped to think about each slide/chart and made notes and annotations etc, it might take days and days to read :-)
(or in other words, there's skimming it, and then there's *reading* it)
Thanks for the great charts. I believe that US vs. MSCI all cap world ex-US (21% financials, 19% tech/comm services) is also all about sectors differences vs. SP500. I wonder if you normalized sectors to the SP500 weights for small cap and ex-US, would you get much better returns from small and ex-US?

An amazing amount of work went into that one. I just restacked it myself!

cheers!
I’ve never seen this much insight packed into one place, I wish I had this back in my younger investment days. Handing this article off to my son.
That's awesome, hope he finds it helpful and interesting!

I like it. A very familiar sounding pathway, and indeed -- many will pass through this trough and curve in the coming years I would think
Great article! Full of insights. Wonderful job. Love the nuanced valuation model. Will include it in my economic/market cycle dashboard.
Thank you Reinaldo, I appreciate the kind words. Great idea! -- you are most welcome to use it :-)
thank you for this! I look forward to going through it, properly, when I`ve got some time
My pleasure!

What a marvelous piece of work! Great insights. And because I’m a visual person, it is even more impactful.
Thanks Mark, me too! -- classic case of "create for yourself" :-)
Absolutely! I launched my Substack-hosted podcast because I wanted to consume a different kind of show. 🤷🏻😊
